Carolyn Braaksma and artist David Griggs worked in collaboration with RNL Design for special enhancements to the addition to Hill Hall. Because they were brought into the team before ground was broken for the project, the artists had the opportunity to influence the design of numerous surfaces and finishes for the metallurgy science building. They provided design for the main interior terrazzo floor, rose window, cast-in-place concrete columns and capitals, precast concrete and cast-in-place concrete for the exterior of the building and plaza. Images throughout the project refer to the ancient art of alchemy and the modern science of metallurgy.
