Braaksma, in collaboration with artist Brad Kaspari, designed various aspects of both the interior and exterior of this college community center. The artists’ enhancements include the brickwork design of the chimney and fireplace, the cast stone insets in the fireplace and walls, and the terrazzo corridor floors. Their design centers around Iowa’s regional farming and food production by depicting hawthorn leaves, grasshoppers, an array of grains and vegetables, and aerial views of plowed field patterns.
